Not Sorry, I am Closed for Stock Taking

When did you last take stock of your life? And not only the big moments but also the little ones that probably passed you by.

Life’s path is never easy and sometimes you can be lost in its whirlwind without even really experiencing the things that happened through it. I was like this for some time last year, where I was just existing but not fully being present in my life.

The “just existing” made me feel like my life had stagnated and it was pushing me to a path of hopelessness. This feeling more often than not sucks you into anxiety, stress and depression. This is why it is essential to just stop! Soak up the sun, look around you, and notice things that you never saw before.

In my stop moment, I decided to start taking stock of my life and monitoring at least one good thing that happened in my day. So as most millennials would do, I opened my phone application store and found an app that helps you take stock of your moments each day, the HappyFeed app.

Happyfeed enables the user to record three moments in their day. The best feature about the app is the happiness jar which allows you to view a random day in your memories with a little shake. Another feature is the notifications that constantly remind you to take stock. Yesterday's reminder read,

“ May is almost over if you gave it a single emoji which would you choose”

The app made me appreciate my memories both big and small, even if the best thing of the day was just waking up. Every time I shake my happiness jar and read the memory that pops up my smile widens.

So stop! Take stock, because the greatest highlight in your life is in the little milestones you have overlooked.
